Don't
think that just because you're over 50 you should stop learning new things. Most
health professionals agree that learning and keeping your mind engaged and
active is one of the best ways to keep yourself sharp at any age.
So keep learning. Take an adult education class at your local community college or university. Enroll for an Internet class in an area that interests you. Buy a book or audio CD on a topic that you'd like to learn more about, then sit down and read or listen to it in its entirety.
If you don't want to learn an entirely new topic, then learn more about one in which you're already familiar. Study and become more knowledgeable in your field of expertise. If you had a hobby you're passionate about, take a class and learn more about it.
Another great way to learn is to volunteer to teach at a workshop or weekend seminar. Most people agree that they learn more by teaching a topic than their students do, and this can be a great way to refresh your knowledge in an area you're a little rusty in.
Lifelong learning is all about exploring the world and taking in all it has to offer. Remember what a fascinating place the world was when you were young, and almost every moment of the day offered an opportunity to learn something new?
Reawaken that sense of wonder in learning. You'll be glad you did.
